Volunteer

Our volunteer experience department is committed to helping us serve the community by carrying out a wide variety of functions on behalf of the hospital,our staff, patients and their families.

Volunteer service areas

Volunteers may choose from services that provide patient contact, nonpatient-related services, and fundraising activities including:

 

  • Administrative (office duties)
  • Dietary
  • Floor aide

  • Patient library

Volunteering options

Our diverse group of volunteers range in age from 16 to 65 and beyond. Hours and days can be arranged on a flexible basis. We require that you volunteer a minimum of 100 hours per year. You may consider volunteering in areas including:

  • Inpatient rehab unit ambassador
  • Emergency department ambassador
  • Surgery reception desk
  • Endoscopy reception desk
  • Family medicine clinic
  • Food & nutrition

Before you start volunteering

Volunteers will be required to complete an application, obtain medical clearance, have a background check and be interviewed by the director of volunteer experience. Junior volunteers will be required to submit working papers and a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor.

Please be aware that the application process takes three to five weeks for all components to be complete.

Junior volunteers

The Junior Volunteer Program offers young people ages 16 to 18 the opportunity to choose from many areas of hospital service while serving their community and familiarizing themselves with the varied careers within a hospital setting.
